Retreat on Feb 6th
February 6th, we went to Macau Tower for our Retreat of HONR 202 course.
Before the retreat, everyone was very exciting about that. Because it is the first time for most of us to try the skywalk. We were looking forward to stand on the top of the tower. However, we also knew that the difficulties and challenges that we would face to. Imagine that we stand on the top of the tower, the height and coldness is a big problem. Most of us are quite scared with the height. But we also look into it with another aspect. When we were standing highly, we can enjoy the beautiful view of Macau, which we might rarely see before. Thus, things always have two sides. When we are going to take the challenge, we should not forget those good staff coming with difficulties.
About 11:00, we went to the top of Macau tower. The feeling of directly confronting things is quite different from imagination. When we were stand on the 233-meter high floor, the scenes were not as what we imagine before. Because the bad weather, we were nearly standing in the fog. However, the weather also brought us the feeling of unknown. Prof. Udani divided us into two groups. I was in the first group.
When we started our skywalk, I find different people may have different feelings. Excitement, happiness, scariness… To our surprise, nearly all of us took an optimistic attitude. We knew that we can smile to any fears and difficulties. Teachers and staffs also cheered us up. At that time, I know fears were not the only stuff that we had, when we were facing the challenges and obstacles. To enjoy the process of challenging, to challenge ourselves, is also very important for us to achieve the goals. When you were a leader, your mood was not only concerned with yourself, but also it may affect others. If you take the positive attitude towards the difficulties, your fellowships would be influenced by your optimism.
In the afternoon, Prof. Udani led us to try something that also most of us had never tried, the rock climbing. Before this time, I have ever just seen someone do sports climbing on TV. It seems very exciting and dangerous. This time I have the opportunity to try it. What an exciting event!
Thus, I volunteered to be the one of my team.
Firstly, I stand on the ground to see other classmates climbing. Some of them reached very high level, however, others were not. No matter they were a “Spiderman “or “Spiderwoman”, the rest were consistent on supporting them. Someone who had the experience of climbing shout to tell them how to climb. Others who were not good at climbing they were also crying “Come on” to make an effort helping them. Finally, it was my turn. When I stepped to the first floor and held the stone, I know that it was a way that I could not look back. I had to hold on to the last. Just like I entered HC. Though there are chances for me to give up, I would not be the loser of HC. Just move on, no matter what kind of difficulties and obstacles I need to overcome.
It was really an excellent retreat day. Apart from the excitement of Skywalk, the sense of success of being the “Spiderman”, the experience of how to face difficulties and my shortcomings is the most important things that I gained from my retreat. Look forward our next Retreat!

My first Online Blog about HONR202 course
My first Online Blog about HONR202 course.
This is my first online blog for course HONR202 course, and also my first English blog. Thus, I may make some grammars and words mistakes. So, please forgive me~^_^
Today I have my first HONR202 course. Professor Udani is our course instructor. Before the course, I have ever heard about his name. However, this is the first time to take his lesson. He is a very facetious teacher that I think. During the class, Prof.Udani tried his best to live up the lesson. He has a lot of funny story to tell and lots of amazing magic to show. The class is full of passion and laughters. I like the atmosphere.
During the class, Prof.Udani let us have a game. We separated into two groups and competed passing ping-pong ball with chopsticks. To tell the truth, the game is very hard in the beginning. We did not get the appropriate way to pass the ball. Yolanda dropped the ball several times in the beginning. However, none of us ever complained about her. All of the group members encouraged and support each other. During the game, I made a big mistake. I dropped the ball, when I was in the position which is next to the last. What a terrible mistake! I nearly ruined the success of our group. I am very sorry to my group mates. Nevertheless, astonishment, no one blamed me. They just say the words like “It’s OK, don’t worry. We will try it again.”things. I was so glad to the solidarity of our group. Although, we failed finally, I was still proud of my group mates!
I think the game taught me a lot. Firstly, each of the people in a group is just like the taches of a chain. Everyone is equally important. If one of them broke down, the whole chain would break down. Thus, all of the members are the most important one. It someone was supposedly absent-minded in a flash, all the group’s efforts would wasted.
Secondly, when someone was passing the ball, I found that other friends felt really anxious. They were trying their best to tell the person who was holding the ball to be careful and to be cautious about the ball. Some of them even could not help themselves shouting and screaming. Of course, the anxiety and thoughtful concerns were understandable. It is a human nature. However, these may make the person who is in turn passing the ball feel even more nervous. It drove them quite flustered. Therefore, when we are facing the great pressures, we only get to be more sobered. Concentrate on the task we do, so that we can forget about other stuffs which influence us.
Thirdly, the most unforgettable experience came from my terrible failure .T.T. The position I was in seems very important. Because it stayed quite back. If I failed, I would lose all the success that my friends made. Thus, I was thinking too much when I was passing the ball. And unfortunately, the ball fell. Actually, each of us is equally important. I just thought too much. Therefore, I know I need not to scare myself, when I was facing those difficult tasks and great pressures. Otherwise, I will be defeated by myself, but not the difficulties.
At last, I must admit that it is a wonderful class for me. A simple game taught me a lot. Now I’m looking forward the retreat in Macau Tower this weekend!
